TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
This is a letter of recommendation for Barbara Trent of the Empowerment Project.
Ms. Trent was an invited speaker for our lecture series in fall 1998. As a guest lecturer,
she met with a class in journalism, gave a radio interview, and presented "A Woman of Courage"
to an audience of about 300 students, faculty and members of our community.
In all other presentations, Ms. Trent gave a first class performance. She used few notes
and was able to adjust her style to the different contexts with ease, warmth, clarity and
enthusiasm. She was extremely favorably received not only by her audiences but also by the host
committee and dignitaries.
Ms. Trent brings a forthright honesty to her audience. She understands what is needed
and she delivers. As one of our invited speakers, she stands in the company of many prominent
individuals including, among others, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Joycelyn Elders, Barbara
Ehrenreich and Morris Dees. She belongs in this kind of company and has our unqualified
recommendation as a speaker.

Yours sincerely,
Beverley Earles-Law Ph.D.
